Regulatory, Administrative
and Legislative Practice
We
are regularly called upon to advise industry trade groups and individual
companies on the likely impact of existing laws and proposed legislation.
We have been repeatedly asked to draft both federal and state legislation
and helped author the Cruise Industry Revitalization Act of 1996, in
addition to other significant tort reform measures, including limitations
on emotional distress damages and medical negligence claims. The firm
is regularly engaged to provide advice and interpretation regarding compliance
with federal and state civil rights and environmental laws, including
the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the
California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the California Postsecondary
and Vocational Education Reform Act and the Maxine Waters Student Protection
Act, among many others.
The firm also practices before a wide array of administrative and regulatory
bodies, representing its clients' varied interests in obtaining or contesting
administrative determinations and rulings. We have considerable experience
