REGULATORY AND LEGISLATIVE PRACTICE

We are regularly called upon to advise industry trade groups and individual companies on the likely impact of existing laws and proposed legislation. We have repeatedly been asked to draft both federal and state legislation and helped author the Cruise Industry Revitalization Act of 1996, in addition to significant maritime tort reform measures, including limitations on emotional distress damages and medical negligence claims. The firm is regularly called upon to provide advice and interpretation regarding compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, F.M.C. regulations, the I.S.M. Code, OPA 90 and similar state law provisions, federal and state gaming laws and cabotage restrictions.
